WHAT DO EMPLOYEES REALLY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS

Cheri Denise Holiday Collection

The Holiday Season presents a challenge for employers to show appreciation for their employees' hard work throughout the year. As a Event Manager/Planner I have several clients who trust me to provide suggestions and execute thoughtful gestures.

When it comes to determining the best gift, there are ways to recognize employees who have gone above and beyond, such as offering bonuses and gift cards. In turn, employees appreciate when management goes the extra mile on their behalf, ultimately building a trusting relationship. With my expertise, I have a few suggestions that will undoubtedly make a lasting impression.

Corporate Season of Giving Tips

  • Schedule intentional one-on-one conversations with staff members to understand their family situations and how you can help them. Offering valuable gifts that can ease their burdens can be a good way to show your support.

  • Offer a few extra days or hours off to allow them to attend important events or just relax.

  • Provide them with gift cards or vouchers to help with expenses, such as utilities, rent/mortgage, or child care.

  • Ask them what you can do to make their home and work life balance easier. Some suggestions may include food service subscriptions, car services for their children, or implementing a four-day workweek.

  • Consider hosting a family event that is fun and relaxing, and hire a professional event planner to ensure the details and logistics.

  • If an employee has a relative going through cancer treatments, offer them days off to sit with them during their treatments.

  • Discuss their financial and career goals and consider offering them stock in the company to help them plan for the future. Collaborate with Home Buying Programs or Financial Planners and offer this service to your team at no cost.

  • Above all, ensure that the work environment is kind and supportive to enable employees to grow and develop.

  • Company Holiday Celebrations are always a win. I suggest Holiday Parties are on held on Saturday’s.

    • Offer hotel stay for ease or fear of driving home after a couple cocktails.

    • Distribute bonuses or gifts at the party.

    • Make it special for them.

    • Be aware of cultural differences when celebrating the holiday season. (Foods and Faith)
