YOU DON’T GET TO QUIT
After attending church on Sunday I had a meeting over brunch. Then I returned home to unwind and prepare for the week. I changed into cozy sweatshirt, leggings and comfy socks. Then I had a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup.
I have been in deep thought about my growth and my career path for the next few years. I’m working on a project that has me in deep thought of each phase of my childhood and adolescence. This has been the most thought provoking process for me. I did not realize how much I had suppress. During this process I have thought about dropping this project because of the introspection of myself.
Back to my Sunday after church…… After a warm bowl of chicken noodle soup I scrolled IG and stumble upon a segment of Minister Sarah Jakes Roberts sermon. Prior to my departure for church I was listening to her live online at the Potters House. The title of her sermon, You Don’t Get to Quit. I scurried over to my laptop and continue to listen to the service. By the way, the choir was fire!!
This season of growth and re-positioning has challenge me to the core. While being consistent with the Event Production and Design aspect of my business, there’s another component of my being stretching me to go further. I see the development of the project in my dreams. I wake up writing down ideas. The line up of events are insane. The message to the attendees is so powerful and I have visualize the emotions on the attendees faces. This is how vivid and soul stirring this project has been for me.
I had a conversation with myself on Saturday after hearing the little voice telling me to let it go. Its to much for you to manage. What if it does not work? You should be giving yourself in other areas. All of the reasons NOT to move forward were coming at me simultaneously. Even though these thoughts were circling in the atmosphere I was so calm and moved methodically organized manner on Sunday morning. I have been amazed at my disposition this year when over-thinking, in the presence of negative and passive aggressive behaviors. I can’t waste time or energy engaging in things that are not beneficial to my growth and well-being. God has calm my spirit and has heighten my intuitiveness. It’s a beautiful feeling.
I listen distinctively listen to Minister Sarah Jakes Roberts message. The timing of this message was perfect. This message definitely had me in a choke hold and confirm every emotion I was experiencing on Sunday.
You Do Not Get to Quit when the negative thoughts are entering your spirit. You Do Not Get to Quit because you are not feeling confident in the moment. You Do Not Get to Quit because you are not being supported. You Do Not Get to Quit due to funding being unavailable. I can go on and on, but you get the message.
It’s seldom the perfect time to implement an idea that’s foreign to most. It’s always the right time to honor the Gift and Vision from God that has given you a meaningful purpose to fulfill. When feeling self-doubt below are a few things that get me through those moments.
Move with integrity and character.
Be intentional with your time.
Do not react with your emotions.
Do not be afraid to move through the process effectively.
Be open to listening.
Be Coachable
Surround yourself with individuals that have experience and are smarter than you.
Be patient with growth.
Do the WORK !!
Pray and Stay in Your Word
Be sure that every individual that you bring into the fold is helping you get up the hill. Assure that their work ethic and intentions align with your mission.
Connect with the one person whom you know will check you and get your mind right. Constructive criticism is needed from the person you trust and loves you unconditionally.
Most importantly, be good to yourself. Celebrate your wins. Do not dwell on what you lost or what’s going wrong.
Remember you are your GREATEST INVESTMENT!!!
